My name is Dustin Hein and I am a front-end web developer from the Annapolis Valley. I've been extremely intersted in web development for a long time.
At 13 years old, if you were looking for me you would probably find me in one of several computer labs around Wolfvlle, NS. My Geocities website, built using the Advanced HTML Editor, was my pride and joy. Hit counters, guestbooks, chatrooms, and animated gifs were all the rage; blink and marquee tags were running rampant; and CSS was unheard of. These were, without a doubt, the glory days of the internet.
The idea of being able to use a computer to publish something for the world to see was an incredibly exciting thought. So, armed with a piece of looseleaf paper, vaguely explaining the markup for images, hyperlinks, as well as some basic text formatting, I set out to make my impact on the world wide web. And I did so in the form of anti-Spice Girls websites and poorly made Wolfenstein 3D levels. I also believe I inadvertently discovered the concept of infinite scrolling :P
Pet right here, no not there, here, no fool, right here that other cat smells funny you should really give me all the treats.
Scratch the furniture. Flop over present belly, scratch hand when stroked and cats secretly make all the worlds muffins so lick the other cats attack feet.
Sit and stare toy mouse squeak roll over so chase dog then run away. Climb leg leave fur on owners clothes.
I have filmed dozens of classroom lectures and course introduction videos. I have also had a few opportunities to film promotional videos for a number of Open Acadia's Summer programs.
Working for VERB Interactive allowed me to get my foot in the door as a web developer. It presented the opportunity to work with some amazing people, on some equally as amazing projects and I learned so much in the short time that I worked there. The environment was like no workplace I had ever seen, and I will always be greatful for the friends I made during those years.
You can see some examples of VERB Interactive's clients on their website.
"Dustin possesses a great combination of technical, analytical and professional skills. He works well independently and as part of a team."
"Dustin was a lifesaver when he helped me get my website up and running. He took the time to explain every step of the process and was patient in ensuring that I understood what was happening with my site. When it came to decision making he explained all of the options and then offered really helpful insight and recommendations based on trends from other similar sites; which included taking the time to get to know and understand my target audience.
He was always professional, kept to deadlines and delivered the product as promised to meet the expectations that were established. He has always been there to help and offer advise even after the project was finished, and I know I can count on him in the future."
To continue my career in the Web industry by gaining meaningful employment in a field related to front-end development. Ideally, I would like to work with smart, motivated people who I can learn from and be inspired to pursue my interests in design, development, programming, as well as computers and technology in general.
